Alec Machiels

25+ years of private equity and investment banking experience. Former Partner at Pegasus Capital Advisors (~$2bn AUM), member of executive and investment committees.

Co-founded Potentia Pharmaceuticals, Apellis Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: APLS - announced sale to Biogen for $5.6 bn), Revon Systems (sold to Zyus), and Liberate Medical. Previous investments include Traxys, Molycorp, Pure Biofuels del Peru, Coffeyville Resources, gyro and Merisant.

Tom brings 20+ years of experience in private equity, private credit, M&A, and capital raising across developed and emerging markets. He was most recently a Managing Director at Onex Credit, after 10 years at Falcon Investment Advisors. Tom began his career at Pegasus Capital Advisors — where he and Alec first worked together — and has led investments totaling over $1.3bn of institutional capital.

Prior experience in the Energy Investment Banking Group at Morgan Stanley (London) and as analyst at Pegasus Capital Advisors, where he helped grow Pure Biofuels del Peru from $(2)m to $42m of EBITDA before a sale to Valero at record industry multiples.
